The Statistical Office in Warszawa is pleased to present the twenty-first edition of the “Statistical Yearbook of Mazowieckie Voivodship”. The current edition has been developed in a new form. The tables were supplemented with maps presenting the spatial distribution of phenomena and charts presenting selected data in retrospect.

The Yearbook includes information characterising living conditions of the society and the state of the economy of the voivodship. Detailed statistical data on the voivodship have been grouped in 22 chapters. The study ends with two review tables containing major data on the voivodship in the years 2000, 2010, 2015 and 2019 and selected data on the voivodship compared with the rest of the country in 2019. The published statistical material was supplemented with general notes explaining terminology, methodology and scope of information used in the publication.

In this edition of the Yearbook, we gathered the information regarding geography and environmental protection in a new chapter “Environment and environmental protection”. From the previous chapter, “Agriculture, hunting and forestry”, a new chapter, “Forestry and hunting”, was established. Moreover, the data regarding national accounts for 2015–2017 were changed in relation to those published in the previous edition following benchmarking revision in annual national accounts, in accordance with the requirements of the Harmonized European Revision Policy (HERP), recommended by the European Commission to all countries of the European Union.

Survey results of official statistics as well as non-statistical sources of information have been used while compiling the publication.
