Under the new NUTS 2016 classification valid since 1 January 2018, introduced by the Regulation of the EU Commission, Mazowieckie voivodship was divided into two statistical regions – Warsaw capital and mazowiecki regional. This regulation is the result of the revision of the Classification of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS), under which modifications were made to the statistical units of 9 EU Member States.

In connection with the new division, the Statistical Office in Warsaw together with the Warsaw City Hall presents you the second edition of the publication showing the socio-economic situation of the Warsaw capital region.

At the same time, due to the growing importance of urban functional areas in domestic and European Union policies and activities undertaken for integrated development, the publication also presents indicators for the Warsaw Functional Area, which includes gminas in which the Integrated Territorial Investment instrument is implemented.

During the development of individual chapters, the results of official statistics and data of the Marshal’s Office of Mazowieckie voivodship in Warsaw in the field of geodesic area and directions of use were used.
