1.The detailed scope of the Office’s tasks includes:
1) collecting, gathering, storing, analysing and elaborating statistical data;
2) collecting information on the needs for statistical analyses in the region and within the specialisation of the Office;
3) designing forms and entry statistical data within the specialisation of the Office;
4) organisation of work and creating organisational conditions for the work of census enumerators, statistical interviewers and experts;
5) running conceptual work on methodology of statistical surveys;
6) initiating and running systematic surveys and analyses of the social and economic situation in the region, monitoring the current economic climate and running statistical knowledge base for the region;
7) running the Statistical Information Centre;
8) undertaking activities with the view of elaborating regional statistics and national accounts;
9) presenting governmental bodies and territorial self-government units the statistical information in the scope, dates and forms described in the programme of statistical surveys of official statistics, accepted by the Council of Ministers;
10) maintenance of the National Official Business Register REGON in the part covering legal persons and organisational units without legal personhood, located in Mazowieckie voivodship and natural persons conducting economic activity, with residence in Mazowieckie voivodship; also sharing REGON register data with such scope;
11) maintenance of the National Official Register of the Territorial Division of the Country (TERYT) in its part covering the system of statistical regions and census enumeration areas, as well as the system of identification of addresses of streets, real estates, buildings and dwellings (with the catalogue of streets) and cooperation with territorial self-government units and bodies running official register and public administration systems in Mazowieckie voivodship on sharing source information for updating of TERYT register;
12) conducting, jointly with governmental or local self-government administration bodies, surveys included upon their request in the programme of statistical surveys of official statistics;
13) creating organisational conditions allowing to disseminate and promote statistics and the knowledge of official statistics;
2.The Office can accept requests and orders for executing tasks described in article 21 section 1 point 1 of the act mentioned, especially for:
1) preparing upon request elaborations supporting other information systems of public administration;
2) conducting upon individual order statistical surveys not included in the programme of statistical surveys of official statistics;
3) performing upon request additional elaborations and analyses, including ones using data gathered in surveys covered by the programme of statistical surveys of official statistics;
4) running in-service training, improving skills and building professional excellence in the fields of statistics.
3. Tasks described in section 2 are conducted beyond the statutory responsibilities of the Office.
The Office is in charge of the below listed specialised tasks on the national level, executed within the scope of the activities for the official statistics as a whole:
1) in the field of non-financial enterprises statistics:
a) conducting work included in the programme of statistical surveys of official statistics,
b) preparing proposals of changes in the programme of statistical surveys of official statistics,
c) designing forms and entry statistical data structures,
d) collecting, storing, analysing and elaborating statistical data,
e) working towards the use of administrative sources of data,
f) participating in methodological works and international cooperation,
g) elaborating publications according to the plan of statistical elaborations and publication plan,
h) running a specialised database of the statistics of non-financial enterprises;
2) cooperating with the Central Statistical Office in activities aimed at maintenance and development of statistical registers, with special focus on the methods of their updating on the basis of data from information systems of public administration;
3) developing methods and forms of collecting statistical data, especially designing and testing forms, terms and questions used in questionnaire surveys;
4) elaborating methods of integration and standardisation of data from information systems of public administration;
5) transforming sets of administrative data into statistical datasets;
6) preparing elaborations in the field of metropolitan areas statistics;
7) elaborating information and summary publications for various territorial units;
8) cooperating with the Central Statistical Office and Statistical Computing Centre in the domain of testing IT solutions;
9) elaborating datasets and preparing national and regional tables, as well as designing and coding in the domain defined separately by the President of the Central Statistical Office.
