Report on the socio-economic situation of Mazowieckie Voivodship 2022

The Statistical Office in Warszawa has prepared the next edition of the annual "Report on the socio-economic situation of Mazowieckie Voivodship". This publication is a comprehensive analytical study referring to the development challenges of the country and voivodships contained in the National Strategy of Regional Development 2030. In this basic strategic document of the state’s regional policy, the challenges identified include: climate change; counteracting the negative effects of demographic processes; developing and supporting human and social capital; increase in the productivity and innovation of regional economies; development of infrastructure improving competitiveness, investment attractiveness and living conditions in regions; increasing the efficiency of development management (including financing development activities).

The thematic layout of the publication allows for the effective identification of the development needs of Mazovia and supports regional analyses carried out in order to monitor the implementation of public policy assumptions. The analysis was made in various territorial sections, which made it possible to present social stratification and diversification in the economic development of the voivodship. The analytical text of the study was enriched with tables and graphic presentation in the form of maps and charts, which allows for quick and effective perception of statistical information and the spatial relations of phenomena presented through them.

The basic part of the Report was supplemented with tables containing an overview of the most important data for Mazowieckie Voivodship and Warsaw capital city in retrospective as well as for cities with powiat status and for the country. Graphical form was used to present selected data for Mazovia against the background of other voivodships.

The data presented in the Report relate to 2021 or the last available year. In order to illustrate changes over time, some issues are presented in a multi-year retrospective. For most topics, the presentation of phenomena dates back to 2010. The population projection was presented in the horizon until 2030. Selected data were compared to the average values for the country.

In this year's edition of the study, in accordance with the expectations of the recipients expressed in the Study of the usefulness of the statistical publication entitled Report on the socio-economic situation of the voivodship, some sections were widened to include new topics. In selected sections, comments were maintained on new information introduced to the surveys of public statistics in connection with the 
COVID-19 pandemic occurring in 2020.
