Demographic changes are nowadays one of the biggest challenges facing societies and although they are mainly the result of processes that have been taking place for many years, their effects – both economic and social – are already felt. Currently observed trends in the field of factors affecting the size and structure of the population, such as: a decrease in fertility, an increase in life expectancy, the creation and breakdown of families, movement of population, determine the labour market, education, health care, and also affect the nature of consumption or the social security market. It can be concluded that along with the progressing demographic changes, the areas of social and economic life that they condition will expand. Due to the significant role of statistics in supporting the activities of all entities to alleviate the negative effects of demographic changes in Mazovia, the Statistical Office in Warszawa prepared the fifth edition of the publication “Demographic situation of Mazowieckie Voivodship”. It is a continuation of the publication “Population, vital statistics and migration in Mazowieckie Voivodship” published for 18 years and enjoying a great interest of a wide audience. This publication contains a number of information about the size and structure of the population in 2010–2023 and demographic phenomena such as: marriages, separations, divorces, births, deaths, migrations in the years 2000–2023. In order to present regional diversity, selected information was analysed in terms of urban areas, rural areas, powiats and gminas. The analytical text of the study was enriched with tables and a graphic presentation in the form of maps and charts. In addition to the analytical part, the publication includes a tabular part, which contains a wide range of data useful for creating extended analyses. A wider range of demographic data is available on the Statistics Poland website https://www.stat.gov.pl/en/, in the Databases tab (among others in the databases: the Local Data Bank, the Demographics and the Knowledge Databases). I do hope that this publication will provide a lot of interesting information about the population of Mazowieckie Voivodship and will be a useful source of knowledge for all those involved in monitoring the demographic changes taking place in Mazovia.
