Mazowieckie Voivodship is one of the most internally diversified areas in Poland and the EU. The main argument in favour of the statistical division of Mazowieckie Voivodship was the assignment of new NUTS2 units to two diff erent wealth categories, thanks to which region mazowiecki regionalny still remains in the group of less developing EU regions next to the dynamically developing metropolitan area (region warszawski stołeczny). This, in turn, results in the possibility of using additional European funds allocated as part of reducing disproportions between regions.

This publication is a response to the needs of local government authorities and representatives of local government units. It characterizes both the diversity within region mazowiecki regionalny, as well as its position among other regions of Poland and supplements the publication Region warszawski stołeczny, which has been published for many years.

To meet the information needs of a wide range of recipients, this year’s study has been enriched with data from social assistance provided to people with the UKR status staying in Poland in connection with the armed conflict on the territory of Ukraine in 2022.
