In 2019, twenty years have passed since the Mazowieckie voivodship along with 15 others found themselves on the map of Poland. This is a good moment to look at the path in socio-economic development of Mazovia, where it was in 1999 and where it is now.

On the occasion of this jubilee, the Statistical Office in Warsaw prepared an occasional folder, which in graphic form, together with short analytical comments, presents the rich characteristics of the most important areas of social and economic life and the changes that have occurred.

The results of statistical surveys of official statistics and data obtained from non-statistical sources illustrate the voivodship’s territorial organization, demographic situation, material and living conditions of the population, social and technical infrastructure, economic activity and finance of local government units. In order to show the region’s internal diversity, selected data at the level of powiats, gminas, urban and rural areas was also analyzed. A comparison of Mazovia with other voivodships, which allowed to indicate its position in the country could not be missed in publication.
