The Sejm of the Republic of Poland, by way of a resolution of June 8, 2017, established 2018 as the Year of Women's Rights. From November 28, 1918, by the Decree of the Chief of State Józef Piłsudski on the electoral law to the Legislative Sejm, women hold electoral rights in Poland and actively participate in the public life of the country. From the 1920s, social statistics document the growing role of women in socio-economic and in political life.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Decree, the Statistical Office in Warsaw presents a graphic study entitled "Demographic portrait of women in selected European capitals", which provides information about Warsaw compared to selected capitals of Central and Eastern Europe in 2010 and 2016.
